I’m writing with a personal update. This Friday 31 July will be my last day as DARTS Creative Producer and Regional Arts Advisor with JUTE.

I have loved my time here. My work delivering DARTS, and more recently as a Regional Arts Advisor with RASN, has allowed me to connect with so many wonderful theatre makers, artsworkers and advocates from right across the state (and some even further afield).

Learning about your practice, communities and vision for the sector has been an absolute privilege, and to say I’ve been shaped by the experience does not even begin to capture how much it has meant to me.

Of course, DARTS and RASN activities will continue, and I have been working with the JUTE team to ensure as smooth a handover as possible. (Further information at the bottom of this email.) 

Queensland’s regional theatre sector has had my whole heart since November 2023 (and a pretty sizeable portion of it even before then). Whilst I wish I could stay, it’s time for me to step back, recharge, and make space to nurture my own creative practice once more. 

I am so looking forward to continuing these connections with you all from a fresh vantage point as a creative peer.

What will happen with DARTS?

• TheatreiNQ’s regional Queensland tour of The Assignment will be delivered throughout November. 

• The DARTS Evaluation Project to document and measure the initiative’s impact will continue, led by JUTE's Gaby Thomasz and External Evaluator, Jennifer Barry.

• JUTE will engage the sector in DARTS legacy planning discussions, expected to take place in late November.

JUTE will be in touch with further updates as DARTS staffing decisions are confirmed. In the interim, DARTS-related correspondence can be directed to info@jute.com.au. 

What will happen with RASN?

• Cass Ramsay continues in her role with RASN | JUTE as Regional Arts Advisor for theatre. 

• Artists and artsworkers who have been mentored by Jess can continue to access RASN services by contacting cass@jute.com.au, or by visiting rasn.au.
